Program Details:

  • Program Name: Immobilizer Owner Program
  • Program Period: August 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023
  • Claim Cut-Off: March 31, 2024
  • Customer: Customers who currently own an impacted VIN

  • Program Amount: $1,000 towards the purchase/lease of a new 23MY or 24MY Hyundai

Eligible Owner:

    • Must be the current owner of a VIN that is impacted by the Immobilizer Issue
      • a. To see if customer qualifies – Go into the VINS Personal Offer and click on the Qualifying Info link. Enter their impacted VIN as the certification code for redemption with the First name = Hyundai and Last name = Owner in the qualifying information area of the worksheet or claim. Do not enter customer name.

    • b. Please note: There is a specific list of VINS (anyone who’s VIN does not pass the qualifying information, is not eligible)
    • c. Codes can only be used once.
    • d. Proof of vehicle trade-in is not required
  • Must provide proof of ownership of impacted VIN: Either from title, current registration, or current insurance. Claim will be subject to chargeback if information isn’t provided. See “Payment Process” for more details.

Ineligible Owners:

  • Customers whose VIN doesn’t pass the qualifying information screen.
  • Customers who aren’t a current Hyundai owner.
  • Customers who are not the direct owner of the impacted vehicle.

Redemption Guidelines:

  • Must be claimed no later than March 31, 2024

What will Hyundai do?

In response to increasing thefts targeting Hyundai vehicles without push-button ignitions and immobilizing anti-theft devices, we are introducing a free anti-theft software upgrade for affected customers. The anti-theft software upgrade will be made available for various models beginning in February 2023 through April 2023 for a total of approximately 3.8 million vehicles.

How will it work?

The software upgrade modifies certain vehicle control modules on Hyundai vehicles equipped with standard “turn-key-to-start” ignition systems. As a result, locking the doors with the key fob will set the factory alarm and activate an “ignition kill” feature so the vehicle cannot be started when subjected to the popularized social media theft mode.
